Staff rally round for Salford Food Bank

Salix Homes staff have rallied round for Salford Foodbank following a break-in.

Last week we launched an appeal for donations following the despicable theft at the food bank in Lower Broughton when heartless thieves stole £2,500 worth of sanitary products and nappies that had been donated for local women and children.

We’ve been inundated with nappies, sanitary products and non-perishable food items to help the food bank replace what had been stolen.

Salix Homes chief executive Lee Sugdensaid: “The Salford Spirit never ceases to amaze me and I’d just like to say a big thank you to everyone who has donated and provided support.

“Salford Food Bank sits in the heart of one of our largest estates providing a lifeline for many of our residents who are affected by poverty, so I’m very proud that in their hour of need we’ve been able to do everything we can to support them.”

Scores of local organisations, companies and members of the public have launched their own appeals for the charity to help them get back on their feet.

Donations can still be made at the food bank on Mocha Parade, Lower Broughton.
