Search is on for Build Salford Class of 2018

The Build Salford traineeship programme is looking for its class of 2018.

The initiative, now in its second year, sees organisations from across Salford join forces to support 16-24 years olds into a career in construction.

The programme, which is supported by 17 housing and construction organisations from across the region including Salix Homes, launches on Monday, March 26 with a recruitment open day at Future Skills at MediaCityUK from 2pm.

Salix Homes is one of the key employer partners for the programme, which provides a fantastic opportunity for young people to build themselves a bright future.

Last year’s trainee John Monaghan said: “Build Salford changed my life. I now have an apprenticeship with a great company and have a great career and future ahead of me.”

Traineeships are government sponsored programmes designed to support 16-24 years olds and help get them into apprenticeships.

Sue Sutton, executive director of operations at Salix Homes, said: “Here at Salix Homes, we’re dedicated to creating opportunities for local people. This is a fantastic opportunity for enthusiastic young people who want to make that initial step in the construction industry, working with expert organisations, who will guide them every step of the way.”
