Salix Homes secures three injunctions in one week with new ASB legislation
Salix Homes has secured three civil injunctions in a week using the new anti-social behaviour legislation.
We are one of the first hosuing providers in Salford to obtain the Civil Injunctions using the new legislation introduced in March through the Anti-Social Behaviour Crime and Policing Act 2014.
We used the new legislation to seek legal action against three tenants who had acted in a threatening manner towards their neighbours and to Salix Homes employees.
During the court hearings at Manchester Civil Justice Centre the judge granted the Civil Injunction Orders to Salix Homes in all three cases.
The new legislation, which replaces the old Anti-Social-Behaviour Injunction, aims to speed up the court process and enables other organisations including the police to apply for Civil Injunctions.
Sue Sutton, executive director of operations at Salix Homes, said: “We welcome the court’s decision to grant Civil Injunction Orders in these three cases. We believe we are one of the first housing providers to obtain three injunctions in a week under the new legislation, and we are pleased to have been able to use these powers to provide protection to our residents and employees.
“We take all reports of anti-social behaviour extremely seriously and we will not tolerate any type of abusive or violent conduct towards our tenants and employees.
“Community safety is a priority for Salix Homes, and I hope these three cases send out a very clear message that we will not hesitate to use this new legislation and take legal action to ensure our communities remain safe places to live and work.”
