Salix Homes retains BSF Champion status

Salix Homes has retained Building a Safer Future (BSF) Champion status in recognition of our commitment to building safety.

In 2023, we become one of the very first organisations in the UK to be awarded Champion status after completing BSF’s new building safety culture change assessment scheme. Following a recent re-assessment, the BSF has announced Salix Homes has retained the accreditation for another two years.

The BSF Champion assessment process provides organisations with valuable insight into their current leadership and culture around building safety. It also equips them with actionable data and practical tools to review and enhance processes, driving measurable improvements in both leadership and building safety culture.

Sue Sutton, Chief Executive at Salix Homes, said: “Retaining BSF Champion status reflects our continued dedication to ensuring the safety of our customers and their homes. With 20 high rise blocks in Salford, our mission has always been about more than just meeting standards – it’s about doing what’s right for our customers to ensure they are safe, and that they feel safe in their homes.

“This recognition reinforces our efforts to build a culture of safety, transparency, and trust. While we’re proud of this achievement, we recognise that building safety is a journey of continuous improvement, and we will continue to raise standards, listen to our customers, and ensure that safety is at the heart of everything we do.”

Building a Safer Future (BSF) is a non-profit organisation committed to raising standards in building safety and to support the required culture change in the built environment industry.

Since Salix Homes was first awarded BSF Champion status, we have continued to make significant strides in our approach to building safety, and we’re working hard to meet the requirements of new building safety laws and regulations.

This year, we launched our new Building Safety Customer Engagement Strategy for people living in our high-rise blocks. This strategy places customers at the heart of our approach, outlining our commitment to engaging with customers and empowering them to challenge decisions and take part in meaningful discussions about building safety.

We’ve also completed Building Safety Cases for all our high-rise blocks, in line with new legislation. This includes key safety and building information, which we share with the Building Safety Regulator, and with our customers.

We have set up a dedicated area on our website where people can access this information about their block:
