Salix Homes CEO addresses rent increase on Salford City Radio
Salix Homes Chief Executive Sue Sutton has taken to the airwaves to address customer concerns about the recent rent increase.
During our latest episode of ‘Let’s Talk Housing’ on Salford City Radio, Sue responded to questions from customers about the 7.7 % rent increase, which came into effect this month (April).
Like all social housing providers, we follow the Government’s guidelines on rent setting, and as a not-for-profit organisation, all our income is re-invested back into delivering our services and improving our homes and communities.
CEO Sue Sutton said: “Our show with Salford City Radio is an opportunity for us to speak directly to our customers about the issues that matter most to them. Understandably, we have received many questions and comments about the recent rent increase – we want to be open and honest with our customers and explain the reasons behind the decisions that we make.
“We do understand the difficult financial situations that many of our customers are in and increasing rents is not a decision that’s taken lightly. The cost of delivering our services comes from our rental income and in order to be able to continue delivering those services, we have to remain financially viable. We’re not immune to rising inflation and the price increases that are being felt by individuals, families and organisations across the country.
“If customers do listen to the show, I hope it helps answer some of your questions. I’d also remind people that if you are struggling to pay your rent or other bills, then please let us know – we are here to help. We have a dedicated Income Management Team who can offer support and advice in a number of ways.”
During the latest episode, Sue also addressed questions about our repairs service and our plans to improve the service and increase capacity. She also spoke about parking issues at our tower blocks, the improvement work being carried out at Grey Friar and White Friar Court and the launch of our latest new-build development – Greenhaus.
You can tune in to the show every Wednesday at 10am at 94.4 FM, or for more ways to listen, including the on demand ‘listen again’ service, visit Salford City Radio.
