Salford teenagers scoop silver medal at Dance World Cup
Five talented teens have put their best foot forward to scoop a silver medal in the Dance World Cup.
Kerys Tough, Emily Eyre, Kerys Fairhurst, Ella Fairhurst and Leah Edwards, all from Salford, have returned from Barcelona to a heroes’ welcome after competing in the prestigious dance event.
Salix Homes has supported the girls on their journey, as we donated £1,200 from our community grant programme Springboard, to help them realise their dreams and dance on the world stage.
The girls competed in the ACRO division of the competition, a dance style that combines classical dance with acrobatic techniques – and were just pipped at the post to the gold medal to event hosts Spain.
Proud dance teacher Jade Munro said: “Heading to Barcelona was an amazing experience for the girls, and the competition was bigger and better than any we’d been to before.
“The girls made lots of friends from all around the world and created some wonderful memories that will last forever. I really am bursting with pride.”
Jeanette Green, neighbourhood manager for Salix Homes, added: “We are so proud to have been able to help their girls on their journey to success through our Springboard programme.
“To come back with a silver medal is an amazing achievement and is testament to the girls’ hard work and determination. They should all be incredibly proud of themselves.”
Since launching Springboard last year, we have donated more than £50,000 to local projects and groups that boost community spirit, promote health and wellbeing, reduce isolation or improve the environment.
