Pet charity gets a boost to continue looking after our furry friends

Veterinary charity, PDSA, received £1,500 from Salix Homes’ Springboard Community Fund to continue to provide essential care for poorly pets across Greater Manchester.

For many owners, it can be an upsetting time when their beloved pet becomes ill or injured. PDSA are a lifeline for many, supporting people and their pets during tough times through 49 PDSA Pet Hospitals across the UK.

Funds will cover the cost of delivering consultations at PDSA’s local Manchester Pet Hospital to ensure each pet receives the treatment they need, and to support their owners during a difficult time.

The crucial first step in diagnosing poorly pets is through a thorough consultation, and with the help of a £1,500 boost from the Springboard Community Fund, PDSA are able to provide consultations for over 60 pets in need.

PDSA’s Chloe Broad, Senior Corporate Officer said: “We’re incredibly grateful for the support from the Springboard Community Fund. We don’t receive any government funding, so rely on generous donations like this to continue to provide our vital veterinary care across Manchester, and beyond.”

Sian Grant, Executive Director of Customers and Communities at Salix Homes, added: “The Springboard Community Fund is there to support initiatives and organisations that make a real difference to the health and wellbeing of our community here in Salford.

“We know that pets are cherished members of the family, and when they fall ill, it can be an incredibly distressing time – especially for owners facing financial hardship. PDSA provides a vital lifeline to these pet owners, ensuring that their beloved animals receive the care they need, regardless of financial circumstances.

“We’re proud to support PDSA and the invaluable work they do in our communities. By funding consultations for poorly pets, it helps bring peace of mind to their owners during what can be a very worrying time.”

PDSA carried out over 21,000 consultations at their Manchester Pet Hospital located at 50 Redgate Lane, Manchester M12 4RZ in 2023. To find out more about the PDSA, for advice and how to get in touch, visit their website at www.pdsa.org.uk
