New chief executive appointed
We have today announced that we have appointed Sue Sutton as our new chief executive.
After a rigorous recruitment process, our Board made the decision to appoint Ms Sutton who is currently deputy chief executive
The appointment follows the decision by Lee Sugden to stand down earlier this year.
Jim Battle, chair of Salix Homes said “We are delighted to announce the appointment of Sue Sutton. Sue’s track record at Salix is excellent and she has a strong understanding of Salix and its residents and a clear vision for the future. We are confident Sue will lead Salix into the future with energy and commitment building on the organisation’s core values.
“We have recently launched a new three year plan that focuses on the key areas of our homes, our business and our services. All of the Board are looking forward to working with Sue to deliver the ambitions within this plan that will see Salix through the next phase of our journey.”
Sue joined the organisation in 2008 when we were an arms length management organisation (ALMO) of Salford City Council. She successfully led the stock transfer of homes from the local authority in 2015, to create Salix Homes as a Housing Association. Prior to joining Salix, Sue worked in the social housing sector in and around Liverpool and has strived, throughout her career, to ensure services and opportunities are accessible to all.
Sue said “I feel honoured and excited to be appointed as chief executive of Salix Homes. I have seen the organisation evolve from an ALMO into a Registered Provider and I have a clear sense of direction for Salix in the coming months and years. I am very much looking forward to working with the Board, our partners and stakeholders and of course the Salix team as we look to advance the organisation into the future.”
“Over the last 13 years working in Salford I have seen the transformation of the city into the thriving, vibrant place to live and work it is today. I am tremendously excited to be able to support Salix’s ongoing contribution to this journey and very much look forward to working with all partners in the future.”
Sue will take up the position of chief executive on the 1 January 2021.
