Keeping a pet

We understand keeping a pet can provide our customers with companionship, love and support, and at Salix Homes we are committed to supporting our customers to own and responsibly care for a domestic pet in their home.

Customers who live in a building with a shared entrance or communal areas will need written consent from Salix Homes to keep a pet.

If you wish to keep a dog or a cat it must be microchipped and registered on the UK Microchip Central Database. All dogs must be a legal breed under UK law.

If you wish to keep a dog and you live in a building with a shared entrance and communal areas, you will need to sign and commit to the terms of the Salix Homes’ Responsible Dog Ownership Agreement.

We recognise that not all customers want to be near animals or choose to keep pets so it is important that pets must not be allowed at any time to roam unsupervised in communal areas. Dogs must be kept on a lead at all times while walking through communal areas and exercising in communal grounds.

Where problems arise in relation to pets, we will make reasonable efforts to help you resolve them. However, Salix Homes has the right to take away permission to keep a pet.
