Your rent payment doesn’t include insurance cover for personal belongings, furniture or carpets if they are damaged or stolen.

Replacing the contents of your home could prove very expensive, so you should consider taking out home contents insurance.

Buying tenant’s content insurance means your personal items are insured against events including:

• fire
• theft
• vandalism
• water damage

You can also add accidental damage cover as an optional extra

Salix Homes tenants’ insurance scheme

We work with one of the UK’s largest insurers to offer our customers home contents insurance that can be paid in weekly installments. All Salix Homes tenants and leaseholders can apply.

The policy includes:

• no excess – nothing to pay when you make a claim
• contents replaced as new (except for clothing and household linen)
• cover for goods rented from weekly payment stores

We cannot guarantee that this scheme provides the cheapest insurance cover available, or that it provides the widest cover, so you are recommended to seek alternative quotations and choose the cover that best suits your needs.

How to apply

If you’re using a laptop or desktop computer, you can fill in a PDF application form. You’ll need to answer the first two questions for the rest of the form to load. Click the ‘submit’ button at the end of the form to return it to us by email.
