Furniture recycling scheme
Make your house a home, furnished with our free, eco-friendly scheme
We know the cost of furnishing a home can be a big expense that some of our customers may struggle to afford.
If you’re struggling with the cost of buying essential furniture or appliances, or can’t afford replacements if they’re broken, then we’re here to help.
Our Furniture Recycling Scheme collects unwanted furniture, household items and white goods so we can give them free of charge to our customers who need them the most.
Got items to donate?
If you’ve got any household items that could go to a home that needs them, email us at environmental.maintenance@salixhomes.co.uk and we’ll get back in touch.
Who can use the Furniture Recycling Scheme?
This service is open to Salix Homes tenants who are on benefits such as Universal Credit, Housing Benefit, Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) or if you’re claiming your Pension.
If you’re not on benefits, but you’re experiencing financial hardship, please get in touch and we might be able to help.
How it works
You can apply yourself to access the scheme, and if you meet the criteria, you’ll be given an appointment to come along to our furniture warehouse in Salford and choose what you need.
We aim to provide up to four items of furniture per household, but if you need more we can discuss this with you.
Salix Homes staff can also refer you to the scheme and then we’ll contact you directly to discuss your needs.
We’ll even deliver your new furniture for you – though we do charge a small delivery fee of £10.
What’s available
We have a well-stocked warehouse of good quality, clean, pre-loved furniture and homeware that has either been donated or has been left behind by a tenant who has moved out.
It includes things like sofas, beds, tables, drawers and white goods like fridges, freezers and washing machines.
We also have smaller items like mirrors, lamps and ornaments to help transform your house into a home.
We're in it together
Our Furniture Recycling Scheme gives a helping hand to customers, saves money, and helps reduce waste.
By giving items a second life and a new home, we can all do our bit for each other, and the environment.
