Final call for green-fingered gardeners
Time is running out for gardeners in Salford to show off their blossoming blooms.
Housing association Salix Homes is urging residents to enter their gardens into its annual Summer Bloom competition, but the deadline for entries is this Friday, July 17.
Now in its sixth year, the popular Summer Bloom event aims to celebrate the efforts of green-fingered folk who work hard to keep communities looking bright and beautiful.
The categories of this year’s event are Most Impressive Garden, Best Communal Garden, Best Hanging Baskets and Tubs, Best Vegetable Garden and Best Small Gardens and Raised Beds.
Jackie Crook, community involvement and new initiatives manager at Salix Homes, said: “We’ve already had dozens of entries from residents with wonderful gardens, but we know there are plenty more people out there who deserve to be recognised for their green-fingered handi-work, so if you think your garden or outdoor space looks blooming marvelous I’d urge you to enter our Summer Bloom competition.”
The competition is open to Salix Homes tenants and prizes will be given to the best gardens in each category.
Entrants must submit photographs of their gardens, hanging baskets and flower beds by Friday, July 17.
