Could you help shape our £75m future?
Proud Salford housing provider Salix Homes is looking for customers who want to be a big voice in shaping our future.
There’s never been a more interesting time to get involved and help with our future approach to managing our homes and neighbourhoods.
We’re on the hunt for someone who wants to become a voluntary customer board member – making sure we best shape the services for our customers, challenge how money is spent and oversee a £75m investment programme to improve our homes and communities.
Salix Homes is governed by 12 board members – comprising of four customers, four independents and four council nominees.
The board is our main decision-making body with responsibility for the strategic direction of the company.
In 2014 tenants voted for Salix Homes to take over ownership of their homes from the council and in March 2015 we officially moved away from the council and became a stand-alone Registered Provider (RP) – a move that has unlocked millions of pounds of investment and will create hundreds of new jobs and training opportunities in Salford.
Grainne Heselwood, Chair of the Board, said: “We own and manage more than 8,300 homes across Salford – meaning one in ten residents live in one of our properties in the city.
“By 2020 we will have invested £75million in homes and communities across Salford to ensure that every property meets the Government’s Decent Homes standard.
“It’s an exciting time but we also want to continue the input of our customers. It’s important we get this right and shape our ambitions the best we can. So I’d urge anyone who wants to get involved and has a few hours to spare, to get in touch. We’d love to hear from you.”
