Salford Baby Bank

Salford Baby Bank is a charity which helps families in urgent need of baby essentials such as nappies, wipes, clothes, formula and other equipment.

To access this service, you need to be referred from a partner organisation, including Salix Homes.

Visit from the Stork

Based in Salford, Visit from the Stork supports new parents and parents-to-be across Greater Manchester.

Its vision is for all parents to be equipped with the resources they need to achieve a better quality of life for themselves and their family.

They provide access to essential equipment for babies and children, low-cost toys and run groups and activities for families including breastfeeding support and parent and baby classes.

Stork Support

Free baby essentials such as nappies wipes and formula milk for families. This free service is for vulnerable families who are referred by a professional such as a health visitor, midwife, social worker or your housing officer at Salix Homes. Contact us to discuss a referral at enquiries@salixhomes.co.uk

Stork Store

A family-focused charity shop, selling new and pre-loved toys, books, clothes and games. Open at Emmanuel Church and Centre on Tuesdays 3pm-6pm, Wednesdays 9.30am-12pm and Thursdays 9.30am-12pm.
You can also shop online at the Stork Store website and collect from the church or the Visit from the Stork office at St James House, Pendleton

That Toy Thing

A toy library for families across Greater Manchester, which aims to support families on low incomes and reduce plastic waste by re-using and recycling children’s toys.

You can get new toys each month for your children and then swap them for different toys when they’ve had enough of playing with them.

To access this service, you need to be referred from a partner organisation, including Salix Homes.

Smart Start – School Uniform Support

We’ve teamed up with the Wood Street Mission charity to help our tenants access free school uniforms.

Contact our Income Management Team on salix.incomemanagement@salixhomes.co.uk and we can make a referral on your behalf and help you to fill in the relevant application forms.

If your application is successful, you’ll have access to free uniforms, PE kits, stationery, and even fancy-dress costumes for events like World Book Day.

Last year, the Wood Street Mission provided more than 3,000 children with free school uniform. They also provide a range of other practical support for families on low incomes in Salford and Manchester, including access to clothes and toiletries, books and children’s gifts at Christmas.

Emmaus Salford School Uniform Hub

Salford families can benefit from free school uniform items and children’s shoes from the Emmaus Salford School Uniform Hub in Pendleton.

Including shirts, sweatshirts, skirts, trousers, socks, pumps, shoes and PE tops, most of the items are sourced from lost property at local schools and individual donations.

To access this service, you need to be referred from a partner organisation, such as your child’s school or Salford CAB.

We are Kickstart

We are Kickstart is a local organisation which works with families and schools to provide support and opportunities to help your children thrive.

They provide educational and sports activities and programmes that are designed to meet the needs of individual children, and can also provide access to competitively priced, high-quality childcare such as breakfast and after-school clubs.

Salford Council – Neighbourhood Teams

Salix Homes works closely with the Neighbourhood Teams at Salford Council who provide a range of opportunities, activities and resources for people living in Salford.

From school holiday clubs and family fun-days to employability courses, the Neighbourhood Teams aim to increase opportunities, tackle local issues and improve communities.
