Winter WIN Day brings festive cheer to Salford communities

Salix Homes customers and colleagues have been getting into the festive spirit.

Teams from across our organisation were out in the community hosting various events across Salford for our Winter Working in Neighbourhood (WIN) Day, which gives our colleagues the opportunity to get to know our customers and neighbourhoods better.

The series of festive themed events took place across our high-rise blocks and sheltered schemes, as well as at community centres including Salford Lad’s Club and the Agnes Hopkins centre.

Our officers spent time chatting with customers, answering any questions they had and building stronger connections over a mince pie and a brew. In our sheltered schemes, we were joined by the House of Memories charity – an organisation that aims to spread awareness and help those diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Customers enjoyed chatting with the members of their team and looking through their carefully curated ‘Suitcase of Memories’ that included ration booklets, photographs and food packets from their childhoods.

At Longbow Court, resident Steven also provided the entertainment with some fantastic singing.

Sian Grant, Executive Director of Customers and Communities at Salix Homes, said: “At Salix Homes we’re on a mission to provide good quality homes and services to our neighbourhoods and our regular WIN Days are vital part of this.

“It’s been great to see everyone embracing the festive spirit – from tucking into a mince pie to reminiscing about times gone by and enjoying the entertainment. These moments help us build stronger connections with our communities, and we look forward to continuing to bring people together with more events and activities in the new year.”

No matter your role at Salix Homes, everyone gets involved in the WIN Days, which provide a valuable opportunity for our colleagues to meet with our customers face-to-face, hear their concerns and better understand the communities we serve so we can deliver the best possible services.

The next company-wide WIN Day takes place in March next year, but our neighbourhood teams will be holding regular events and activities across our communities including surgeries and drop-in sessions.

Keep an eye on our events calendar to see when we’re in your area.
