Seddon creates a space for the community at Lark Hill Primary School

Both pupils and parents can now use the school’s community space after the firm spent two weeks transforming a site cabin into a fully functioning area for lessons and events, complete with a mini-kitchen.

The community cabin will see pupils, parents and the wider community learn how to make healthy meals using slow cookers, take part in art therapy classes or even learn how to start their own business venture.

James Blackwell, Head Teacher at Lark Hill Primary School, said: “Seddon has done a fantastic job in fitting out our new cabin and providing a space for the community to meet up, learn and grow together.”

Seddon’s donation and fit out of the community cabin forms a part of a wider regeneration project the firm is delivering for Salix Homes. The firm is currently undertaking internal and external fit out work at nearby Magnolia Court. Work on the 17-storey tower block began in the spring and is due to finish in spring 2016 and is part of a wider £7 million project to transform a trio of tower blocks on the Boardwalk Estate, which are due for completion in 2017.

Maggie Heap, Community Projects Manager at Seddon, said: “This was an incredibly fun project to be part of. It was a pleasure to see the look on the children’s faces as we unveiled the new cabin, which we hope will make learning new skills and taking part in healthy eating cookery classes even more exciting.”
