Tenants move into refurbished homes

Salix Homes is pleased to welcome the first tenants into refurbished and newly-acquired homes in Swinton.

Several of the properties along Long Street and Mount Street, purchased by the Salford housing provider in 2016 from The Riverside Group, have received a makeover, including new vinyl flooring, doors and windows and renovated bathrooms, to bring them up to a much improved standard.

These were the first homes Salix Homes acquired since becoming a stand-alone housing provider in 2015.

These properties, a mix of two and three-bedroom terraces, have also benefitted from repointing and decorating.

Many of the residents who have moved into the properties previously lived on the nearby Beechfarm estate in Swinton, where currently a major development by Salix Homes is taking place to build 161 new homes.

Sue Sutton, executive director of operations, said: “We’re delighted that we can now finally move people into these homes, ones that our tenants can be proud of and enjoy.

“Several of these properties needed to go through a thorough internal and external improvement programme to get them up to a decent standard.

“We remain dedicated to delivering quality homes and improving the communities and customers we serve.”
