Councillor Joe Murphy

We’re very sad to hear the news of the passing of Councillor Joe Murphy over the weekend.

As well as a dedicated local councillor in Salford for more than 40 years, Joe was also one of our original Board Members when we set up as an Arms Length Mangement Organisation in 2007, retiring from his position just last year.

In that time, along with the rest of our Board, he oversaw a range of improvements to services and millions of pound of investment in our homes and communities across the city as well as our pivotal transfer to an independent housing association in 2015.

Always the people’s champion, he made an invaluable contribution to the organisation and ultimately social housing in Salford.

He will be greatly missed by all at Salix Homes and the communities he served.
