Community centre will hit the right notes thanks to support from Salix Homes
A Salford community centre will be hitting all the right notes thanks to a cash boost from Salix Homes.
We’ve recently donated £900 through our Springboard fund to help St Sebastian’s Community Centre renew its music licence for another year.
The financial assistance means the community centre on Douglas Green can continue to provide social events and activities throughout the year.
Mick Walsh, neighbourhood manager at Salix Homes, said: “St Sebastian’s is a real community hub providing an array of events and activities for local people to get involved with, many of which Salix Homes has supported over the years.
“However, without a music licence, a lot of these activities wouldn’t be able to take place, so we are very proud to provide some financial assistance through our Springboard fund to ensure the music can play on and bring people together.”
The community centre provides a home for many local groups and organisations, including Lower Kersal Morris Dancing Troupe, and also plays host to charity events, fundraisers, and community fayres.
The Springboard community grant programme supports projects and initiatives in Salford that boost community spirit, promote health and wellbeing, reduce isolation or improve the environment.
Since launching Springboard last summer, Salix Homes has donated more than £50,000 to local groups and projects in Salford.
