Generous Janet helps to spread some festive cheer this Christmas
Christmas can be a difficult time of year, especially for families experiencing financial hardship over the festive period.
Throughout the year, Salix Homes finance support officer Janet Browne bakes cakes for Salix staff in exchange for a small donation to her charity tin. With the proceeds, she has bought been able to buy hundreds of pounds worth ofChristmas presents for dozens of families in need throughout Salford and Trafford.
Lee Sugden, chief executive of Salix Homes said: “We are proud, as an organisation,to be able to help make a difference to the lives of families in crisis. We’re especially proud of Janet, who raises this money each year out of the kindness of her heart. The money that’s beenraised has meant she’s been able to make sure that lots of these families will no longer be without a gift this Christmas time”.
David Marshall, principal manager at Housing Options Service Trafford (HOST) was contacted by a mum who wanted to thank Janet for her genorisity.
She said: “I just wanted to say thank you so much for the gifts for Christmas. It’s so thoughtful and lovely. My children will be very happy on Christmas Day, you have made Christmas in here a lot nicer with your kindness.”
