New look for ageing apartment block Bramley Meade

An ageing apartment block in Salford has been given a much-needed facelift.

Salix Homes has been working alongside our partner contractor Emanuel Whittaker to transform Bramley Meade – a low-rise block in Higher Broughton.

The block, which houses 30apartments, has been given a new lease of life with improvements made to the communal stairwells and main entrance doors. External storage has also been added, along with new deck access for residents.

Martin Parr, project surveyor at Salix Homes, said: “Bramley Meade is looking fantastic following its recent makeover. The block was beginning to look a little tired and dated, but working alongside Emanuel Whittaker, we have been able to deliver a complete transformation.

“We have listened to our customers, who said it was too dark in the existing communal stairwells, so the new lighting, design and bright finishes have made a big difference. We’ve jet-washed all the external paved areas too, to make the communal areas look fresh and clean.

“As always, Emanuel Whitaker has delivered a first-class scheme for us and helped us to give Bramley Meade a much-needed refresh. They’ve taken a tired looking 1970s building and made it look more modern, with glazed panels and stainless-steel features.

“It’s really changed the appearance of the building for those who live here and we hope the residents can enjoy living in new and improved homes that they can be proud of.”

The work forms part of our multi-million pound improvement programme to homes and communities across Salford.

Work is currently underway to make improvements to Springbank sheltered housing scheme in Seedley, which is due to be completed this spring.
